When considering the secrets of success, there is one factor that can’t be overlooked and that’s a positive attitude. If you change your mindset from a negative to positive, you have the power to change your life. Many people struggle with their dreams and live a life unfulfilled due to self-sabotage. Though people want to achieve great things, they continually allow negative thoughts to rob any progress made. There are many situations where people feel powerless, but this doesn’t mean you can’t be successful. To be truly successful, you must identify areas you have no control over, then ensure you respond to those situations accordingly. You can’t control other people, but you can control how you respond to negativity. Change your mindset and you will access an arsenal of weapons that will not only bring you success but ultimately change your life.
The word “if” may be small, but it’s extremely powerful. Many people use the word to make excuses. Some blame their lack of success in life on their parents, their educational level, their backgrounds or personal situations. They might say to themselves if only they were born in a different situation, they could be successful. It doesn’t matter what happened in your past, who your parents are or were, your financial situation or any struggle you have endured. Yes, the situations you experience shape you and transform you into the person you become, but they do not define who you are. Everyone has the opportunity to achieve his or her dreams, but many fail to do so because of negative thinking. In order to become successful, you must assess your life, look at issues that have been holding you back and then choose to respond to those situations with a positive attitude.
You can’t control the words people say to you, but you can control how you respond to them. You may have been the victim of abuse, neglect, poverty and lived a life of unfair circumstances. Those situations do not define you. They are experiences that shape you, but they are not who you are. How you deal and cope with these situations will have a direct impact on your success in life. There are millions of people who never overcome abuse, neglect or difficult circumstances. They turn to drugs, alcohol, and other addictions in an attempt to numb the pain. The reality of what they experienced becomes their only reality and without learning how to process situations and move on, they never achieve their true dreams and goals.
Begin by recognizing that what you went through is something that happened to you, but does not define who you are. Use whatever tools you need to deal with those issues and continually focus on a positive view of yourself. Choose not to focus on the negative aspects, but instead look at the positive path that lies ahead of you. Use meditation, visualization, therapy, healing music, prayer, faith, and whatever you need to do to see yourself as the wonderful, full-of-potential, creative person you truly are. When negative thoughts arise, strike them down and replace them with positive ones. Over time, you will create a strong sense of self-esteem and combined with healing from your past, free yourself to become the successful person you are destined to be.
There are three areas in life that you will always have complete power over. These include the thoughts you think, the words you say, and the actions you take. There is no situation that can occur in life that can cause you to think, say or behave in a specified manner. Begin by taking control over your thoughts, your words and your actions. Transform them from negative to positive and you will see a change in every area of your life.
